Casa madrona sausalito wedding

In our years of travel along the Groveland-Yosemite area, we often find ourselves on Highway 49, an interesting route that sometimes weaves, sometimes steep and always beautiful. Our last trip took us to Auburn and Placerville and both are noteworthy with a great stopover. This route is good for those approaching Yosemite from Tahoe, heading south from Interstate 80 or Highway 50.

We followed the route from north to south. The most common throughout this trip is the winery and the history of the gold rush era with many other unpleasant distractions including theater and arts, regional crafts, music, farmland, and oh ... so much more!

We started in Auburn old town looking for an "Omelette shop", a small restaurant (whose name comes to mind) in the old town, downtown specializing in serving omelets with 78 different recipes to choose from. I ordered the roast beef, tomato and red onion with a dollop of sour cream and it was delicious! Victor is more traditional but equally pleasing. This restaurant seems to gather a cowboy crowd and interesting local characters.

Spend time checking out the cute shops in this area. We found some worthy notes including one of the most beautiful nurseries, Belle Flore Gardens, (1125 Lincoln Way 916-660-9701) located right in the middle of downtown Lincoln-High Street V. The Shoppe is a work of art and I can wander offerings they for hours, instead we bought some mothers and went to Pioneer Motherlode Mining Co., also in Lincoln Way. This store has all the little pieces that might be desired for the gold planner and the great equipment that the career miners need. This store is at once high tech with floating pumps and the old world with pots and vials of gold flakes. This is another stop that can spend more time.

The highway is at the intersection of the Nursery and Lincoln roads and is split slightly on a hill. casa madrona sausalito and Well worth exploring with some comfortable stops for a drink break and night live music.

We then set out to find the California Welcome Center where we had the brochures of Hotel Charlotte and StayNearYosemite.com that were distributed from. The staff were very helpful. I bought two things here that were tourist-kitch. The first one is one of the snowballs that shake with carrots, and 2 bits of charcoal and the post: California Snow Man. The second is a bottle with a genuine California gold piece and certificate of authenticity. This is a good discussion in the Hotel Charlotte, most people have not seen gold in the raw state

From Auburn we head south on 49 to Placerville. You will pass some of the most beautiful farmland on the Sierra foot. madrona and You will want to have in the hands of the publications of the El Dorado County Visitors Bureau, mapping out agritourism (Farm Farms) and wineries along the way with a handy list of opening times and schedules.

We chose to stay overnight in Placerville at the newly remodeled Cary House Hotel with new owners.Photography Website and We very much enjoyed our stay here. The room is a one bedroom apartment with living room and kitchen. That number is under $ 100. Maybe this is mid week special. Breakfast very light, need us to eat as soon as it goes. The hotel features beautiful antiques along the plastic relics. A strange alignment that we hope the new owners will change, especially in the public hallways and lobby. Parking is free and we are centrally located and can walk everywhere.

Following the maps and old memories we started looking for wine tasting rooms. Our first discovery was Ursa Vineyards, a wine producer we know, enjoy and bring in our own restaurant. We had a California State Fair wine guide and saw that Ursa had been printing double gold. We are ready to taste! Unfortunately, it's Monday and Ursa is closed.

We ran down the lane a bit and found Jodar with a nice harbor to try our friends back in Groveland. I decided this was a good time to see a practical map of El Dorado with load time / close. We found Madrona Vineyard to be near where we were and headed to High Hill Road and the ranch stopped along the way. We bought apples from High Hill Ranch and enjoyed some fudge from Fudge Factory Farm before we found Madrona. Good wine and beautiful!
